The What We Heard Report provides a review of the gaps identified by participants regarding the National Strategy for Critical Infrastructure. These are examined through the current objectives: partnership building, all-hazards risk-management and information sharing. Respondents also proposed new objectives and approaches for protecting Canada's critical infrastructure.
The National Strategy for Critical Infrastructure, established in 2009, provides a framework for public/private cross-sector partnerships and sets a common vision for strengthening Canada's security and resilience. Following an examination of the National Strategy, it was recommended that it be modernized to better reflect the evolving risk landscape.
The Discussion Paper explains the key drivers of change in the realms of cyber security, climate change, geo-poltical risk and economic prosperity. It also provides essential context for the questions posed to participants on seven themes: the defintion of critical infrastructure, sector composition, interdependencies, designation, supports, collabration and objectives.
